A paradise called Koh Rong
Since I moved to Cambodia I have visited Koh Rong three times, and I can say I will never get tired. The island is a beautiful escape, where you can feel nature with all you heart. It is home to a small village, where locals live along with foreigners who decided to make the island their home, and also, where many saw the opportunity of opening businesses to attract more tourists to the island.
Koh rong has grown a lot in the past years with the increasing numbers of tourists and incentive from the government. Many would say this is a great thing. Yes, it might be in an economic perspective but it's very concerning when it comes to the preservation of the natural environment.
The island's natural landscapes have changed a lot already. Unconscious tourism and unsustainable development of the island might be the main causes for destroying this paradise Cambodia has in their seas. I hope the government and other organizations take a initiative on this.
And to you, who travels to destinations like this, or to any other place, remember to be a conscious traveler. Preserve.
